Celebrate with Paper Pumpkin

The July Paper Pumpkin kit is a unique one. It is all about banners. At first sight it seems like it is set up to decorate a cake perhaps. I wanted to think outside of the box and create a card with this kit. Plus, I love making projects for the My Pumpkin Challenge that inspire others. As I sat on my couch determined to create something fun, I found myself challenged. I stared at the banners and the stamps and I was stumped. I really like this kit so I was getting bummed I could not think of something to make. I was getting ready to put my stuff away to take a break when My Man (oh yeah, he was sitting next to me the whole time, I think watching me from the corner of his eye, he knew I was getting frustrated) leans over and asks if I can make the "celebrate" banner pop out of the card. Hmm. That was what I needed!! He must learn a thing or two at Stampin' Class every month. God love him! I knew exactly how to proceed.

I made two little paper accordions and attached the "celebrate" banner to the inside of the card. (accordions measured 1/2" x 4") When you open the card it POPS out!

Once I got going I had a lot of fun making this card. I really like how the banner pops out of the card. What a fun surprise for the recipient! Be sure to head over to the My Pumpkin Challenge to see what the gals made this week.

*A special thanks to My Man! He is awesome and I appreciate his love and support! Plus, he is pretty creative. He is a keeper!*

  2. What's that saying? "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes." Yeah. I might've stumbled blindly upon the concept, but you made it way cooler than it looked in my head.

I like the height-width ratios on that card; they are different than what I normally see you ladies create.

December Challenge: Brr! It's Cold!

Let's start December with a new challenge over at the My Pumpkin Challenge ! The last Paper Pumpkin kit was so adorable. I can't wait to see what everyone is making with it. The Challenge this month is Brr! It's cold. I live in Colorado and it is usually really cold and snowy this time of year. Yesterday the temperature was 60 degrees. My son wore shorts to school. It does not feel like December yet! It is weird to see Christmas lights hanging with no snow. I don't think snow is even in the forecast in Denver. But, in the spirit of winter here is my sample this week! p.s. I am not complaining about the warmth, just noting that it is odd. ;) I used one of the cute snowflake cards to make this hot cocoa treat. I cut one flap off the card (the end with half a snowflake). Then I used sticky tape to tape the sides of the remaining snowflake piece, to make a pocket for the hot cocoa packet. I stamped some snowflakes along the bottom and embellished the centers with rhi...

New! Wishes and Stars Challenge

Let's welcome August with a new challenge over at the My Pumpkin Challenge . The theme this month is " Wishes & Stars ." It totally fits the July Paper Pumpkin kit. I love the options they provided in this kit and all the products too. You still have time to sign up for your Paper Pumpkin kit and to take advantage of the great deal going on now. Here is my sample this week. I made a star border with the different size star shapes from the kit. I traced the star outlines first, cut around my pencil lines then adhered the stars. (I thought it would look cleaner that way instead of having to cut around the stars and get in the tight areas.) The front says Make a and the inside actually says WISH, but I left my camera at work so I will show you the inside tomorrow. Don't forget to stop by the My Pumpkin Challenge today to for more inspiration. We would love for you to share your creations too! Don't be shy, even if you do not have a blog you can participa...

Inspiration Everywhere

Who knew when I sat down to watch the Big Bang Theory it would inspire me to make a card! Well, that is what happened. Every Thursday, My Man and I have a ritual: we have a yummy dinner and then sit back and watch the Big Bang Theory. We love that show. It cracks us up and we all know that laughing is good for you! I love all of the characters, though Sheldon holds a special place in my heart........ Yes, that is My Man. We were at a comic book store and I could not resist taking this photo, and then take it one step further by turning it into a funny inspirational poster! (So glad he has a great sense of humor) My mom, dad, and sister love buying him the same t-shirts that the Sheldon character wears. Do you see the resemblence? Ok, back to my card. As I was watching the show last night, Sheldon was wearing a Rubix Cube t-shirt, and in one of the scenes you can see a Rubix Cube cookie jar in the background, hmmm........it got me thinking. This wo...
