Stampin' Sweet

I have been slacking here this month. This has been one busy month for me. I mean, all my months are busy but these last few weeks have been a bit different. We are swapping rooms in my house. My son is moving into my craft room and my daughter is moving into my son's old room. So right now all of my craft items (ALL OF THEM) are in my living room, dining room and even in my kitchen! My son is almost fully moved into his new room. We just finished painting my daughter's room and can now get her situated. Once she is moved in, I can move my craft room to her old room. I am excited because my new craft room will be bigger and it will give me a chance to re-organize everything! But, being in limbo right now is no fun.  I did make some Paper Pumpkin projects for the My Pumpkin Challenge though! I apologize I did not have weekly recaps. It is that time of year! The end of the school year brings on many Graduations. What a great milestone to celebrate. The March Paper Pumpkin kit made it easy to make a whole set of grad cards if you need them. My card above looks like a normal card, but open it up, boom.....it has a pocket for some cash! I bet that is the perfect gift! I did something similar to last weeks sample . (It is kind of the mini version of that sample.) Disclaimer: My pockets are usually full of tissues due to my seasonal allergies, but that is how I roll! However, the pocket on my card is full of gift card goodness.   This card was very easy to make. The card base is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Whisper White, folded in half. Then, I cut the flaps off the designer paper envelope from the kit. That left the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece which I cut diagonally in half for the pocket on the front. I also used my paper piercing tool to punch holes on the Whisper White base along the pocket to add some texture.  We love to see what you are making! I will start off with my usual phrase....the latest Paper Pumpkin is awesome! I say something close to that each month. Seriously though, these kits get better and better each month. Next month, to celebrate Paper Pumpkin's third birthday we get a bonus stamp set in our kits. Be sure to sign up by April 10th if you want an extra goodie. Pretty sweet deal! To change up my kit this week I made a bigger "pocket" that would hold a little treat with the gift card. I added a small pack of gum but I also think it is the perfect size for a Ghirardelli chocolate square. Yum! Here is how I did it: I folded the tabs on two of the pockets from the kit. Then, I adhered tabs together. Next, I adhered that piece to the front of the card. So easy, and I was able to just use items from the kit. This is the last few days of the March My Pumpkin Challenge.... Say it With Flowers !  For my sample this week I wanted to use the "hello sunshine" stamp from the kit and I thought it needed a sunburst. I pulled out my Kinda Eclectic stamp set for the sun and the butterflies. I usually try to only use what is provided with the kit, but I needed the sun!  Last week I did not have a moment to post my sample but you can see it below. We had two snow days due to a spring blizzard and then I caught some weird bug that is going around. I really like the Basic Black card stock with the flowers from the kit, I think it makes them pop!   I hope you had fun with this kit. I think there was so many fun alternatives. I changed it up this week! On my Pool Party card stock I stamped the pretty rosette all over using VersaMark. I kind of made my own Designer Series Paper. Then to add some color, I stamped the rosette in Blackberry Bliss on the washi tape tag (Included in the kit). I also roughed up the edges of the Pool Party card stock and sponged the edges with Crumb Cake ink. I also sponged the Pool Party card stock lightly all over with the remaining ink on the sponge so it looked a bit antiqued. I thought the leaves were pretty and thought they could stand alone without the flowers on this card. What have you created with this kit? We would love to see what you are making! We have another round of Say It With Flowers this week over at the My Pumpkin Challenge . This is such a pretty kit, I probably said the same thing last week. Speaking of last week, I cut a 3/4" strip off of one the card bases for my project. This week, I used the cut card base for my sample. You can see below, my shortened card base. I adhered a strip (1 1/2") of Gold Glimmer Paper to the inside of the card base so it shows through the front. Then, I placed the gold spiral flower and thinking of you banner to over hang a bit so it balanced out! We love to see what you are making! Welcome to the March Paper Pumpkin Challenge. Can you believe it is March already? I can feel spring in the air, although I bet one more snowstorm sneaks in before Spring officially arrives. Springtime makes me think of flowers which of course is perfect for our theme this month, Say it With Flowers! The February Paper Pumpkin kit was so beautiful. I love it all, plus they included such pretty envelopes! Be sure to send those lovelies out, the recipient will feel glamorous opening it. For my Challenge samples I try to change it up using the items included in the kit. This week, I cut 3/4" from one of the card bases and adhered it the right edge of the card base as shown above. Then, I rounded the corners. Then I embellished with the flowers and stamps from the kit. Not much change but I like the pop of color. This week I will share the story of my daughter, my mini me! She has my heart. She is the sweetest, kindest and funniest 12 year old I know. She is just so happy and she always brightens my day. She is smart and witty. She wakes up in a good mood every single day. My son probably does not realize it yet, but he really has the best sister ever. She is my volleyball player. She is my dancer. She is so full of energy and life. I learn lots from her good nature. Everyone tells me it will all change when she turns 13. For now, I will embrace it! I hope she keeps this spirit forever. I am blessed to have her as my baby girl! The card above was inspired by my love for her. The hearts, the love, the bling! Just because it has a heart does not mean it is only for Valentine's day. To continue with the My Pumpkin Challenge theme this month, I will share my story about Child #1. My Son. My firstborn. He is fourteen years old, but he will always be my baby. He is funny, stubborn and confident. He eats like a teenage boy. He is bigger than me and keeps me on my toes. He spends his free time playing video games and watching movies. Every once and awhile he will still cuddle with me and twirl my hair in his fingers. His passion is baseball. He practices six days a week. Sometimes with his team, sometimes on his own. I love to watch him play and I am his biggest fan. As you could see from the photo above, he inspired my card this week for the My Pumpkin Challenge . It can be a Valentine's Day card or just an everyday card to say, Hey, I love you kiddo! The new My Pumpkin Challenge for February is Share Your Story . My story begins with the loves of my life! This week I made a treat bag, that could be hung on a door knob, and instead of candy it is filled with love notes! You can see the paper hearts folded in half above. So, continuing from last week......what am I storing in my stamp case? Using my Paper Pumpkin kit, I made an assortment of birthday and anniversary cards that fit nicely in the case. It also contains postage stamps, a Stampin' Write marker and my list of important dates. I can grab this handy kit and send out cards in a snap! Each month, I can swap out the calendar in the front sleeve to track the date. It is the perfect size to take with me and stores nicely on my desk. January is already more than halfway over. Wow. Big box stores already have Valentine's merchandise out. I guess they have since before Christmas. I am not ready for January to end yet. Maybe I should be prepping for Easter, I kid. I set up my December Paper Pumpkin kit in one of the Stampin' Up! stamp cases. I can easily slip each month in the front for display. I stamped each month on some grid paper to track important dates such as birthdays and anniversaries. I can store all twelve months of important dates inside the stamp case. Christmas is just days away and I am still working on last minute projects! If you know me, my middle name should have been Procrastinatoria, or something like that. This month's theme, Share a Caring Thought, has got me thinking. It has reminded me I can share a caring thought with a card and a note, but I can also do it with a smile and kind words. Sometimes that is all it takes to brighten someone's day. I try to remind my kids to be nice and show compassion. I hope those values stick with them forever.
