As my daughter and I were driving to the store last week she asked me if Santa was real. Sigh. I told her that I believe in Santa. She thought about it for a few minutes quietly. I then asked her why she was asking and if she heard something different. She said yes, a girl at her school told her Santa was not real. My heart sunk. I asked her how she responded to that remark. My daughter replied, "I told her that she has her own beliefs and I have my own beliefs." She blew me away with her response! She is wise beyond her years. She did not let that little girl break her spirit! I am touched by her response and will be sure Santa visits her, um, forever!
Later that week she got a video message from Santa! It was so fun to see the excitement in her eyes! I am so happy me and my kids have traditions that will last a lifetime. They are the same traditions started by my parents. Kids grow up too fast, I will cherish these moments forever. I will also keep in mind what I learned from a wise 10 year old girl: some peoples' beliefs might be different than mine, and that is ok! We will keep moving forward with our magical Christmas beliefs.
This was a fitting Christmas card this year. Many blessings to you and your family! Merry Christmas to you all!
